Update
Payroll Records : Form
W-4 and the REVISED Form I-9

Form
W-4
(Employee’s Withholding Allowance Certificate) should be updated
annually, preferably in December. Please
complete these updates BEFORE processing W-2 forms.
This further insures accuracy of employee social security numbers
and current addresses.
If
our office processes your employee’s W-2 forms, please provide us with
copies of the updated W-4s.
The
USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) has recently unveiled
the revised Form I-9 (Employment
Eligibility Verification). The
new form became effective November 8, 2007.
Employers have been required to complete a Form I-9 for each new
hire since 1986.
If
you do not have I-9s on file for all of your employees, it is very
important you do so now. If
you already have I-9s on file, you only need to use the new I-9 version
for new hires.
The
forms can be obtained in our office or at: www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf
for W-4 forms and www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-9.pdf
for I-9 forms.
